5 Things You Didn’t Know About Shopping at BJ’s Wholesale

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Shopping at BJ’s Wholesale

Knowing how to maximize savings at a wholesale club is your task today!  Wholesale clubs, especially BJ’s, offer Smart Mamas a variety of “extras” that aren’t always seen at traditional grocery stores.

A visit to a local BJ’s Wholesale last month, including a tour from a representative of the club, taught me SO much about the great benefits that often go unnoticed by moms.  Here are 5 things I believe Smart Mamas need to know:

1. Multiple Coupons Allowed at BJ’s

If you are purchasing a 3-pack of toothpaste you can use 3 manufacturer’s coupons – one for each pack!  Plus, if BJ’s has also included a coupon for that toothpaste pack in their coupon book (found in-store, sent home or available online,) that may also be used in conjunction with the manufacturer’s coupon!

2. Propane Gas

Cheap propane gas!  Gassing up for the grilling season?  Did you know that BJ’s is often the cheapest place to get your propane tank filled!?  I verified this and found that currently a propane exchange is $3.00 cheaper at BJ’s that at the home improvement store. Now it’s time to grab one of my grilling recipes, head to BJ’s to get the ingredients and fill up your tank!

3. Organic Food Galore

Over 80 organic items can be found at BJ’s.  Skip the gourmet markets and buy many organic produce items from the “Dirty Dozen” at BJ’s instead!BJ's Wholesale

4.Farm to Club

BJ’s has partnered with farms in your state to offer local (within the state) select produce.  In Florida, 3 farms have their produce sold in BJ’s!

5. Food Donated

More than 1 million dollars of food has been donated by BJ’s Wholesale to shelter & soup kitchens in need via Feeding America in 2011!  Instead of trashing the soon to expire unsold meat, fish and produce, BJ’s is giving it to Feeding America where it can be preserved (frozen) and provided as needed to participating shelters.

What else should I add to this list?  What are other hidden gems of shopping at BJ’s?  Looking forward to adding your ideas!

  1. I joined BJs years ago for the very fact that they are the only warehouse retailer that allows coupons! Not to mention that they carry Gain with Lavendar…my favorite!

    1. Agree. I love the fact that they take coupons. It tells me that they want to help you save as much as you can on groceries. I already do the multicouponing. Love it. You can combine the ones that you walk in the door, magnize in mail and leaflet ones because they all have different numbers on them.

  2. Great info. I’ve been a BJ’s shopper for years. I always use their store coupons on every trip, don’t shop without them.
I had no idea you could also use manufacturers coupons there!
I will be prepared on my next trip there.

  3. I had no idea you could use multiple manufacturers coupons- that is amazing! Their cards and magazines are also a steal! My BJs just started carrying cold cuts and rotisseriesnchickens which are the juiciest and cheapest I’ve ever had! Thanks for the tips!
