Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog! It’s National Hot Dog Month!

This month more dogs will be grilled and consumed than any other month of the year. I’m sure the increase of summertime BBQs has an impact on summer hot dog eating!

We cook hot dogs in four different ways – depends how much time we have! Microwave, boiling, frying or grilling. Our favorite is grilling. The thought of a BBQ of burgers and dogs makes my mouth water!

Toppless?

Is your dog topless or fully covered? I like mine all covered up! Ketchup, mustard, relish, chili, onions – I’m a fan of all those! What’s your favorite?

Our most recent hot dog night included a can of chili, Hormel Chili with No Beans as the topping. National Chili Dog Day is June 28th so that was enough of a reason to take out this pantry staple (I make a fantastic appetizer with it) and warm it up. I spooned the chili across each dog in a bun. We enjoyed every last bite. We even grabbed our forks to scoop up the chili that had slid out of the bun. Our chili dogs were de-lish!

Are you a hot dog eating family? What toppings do you and the kids enjoy? Share your favorite hot dog recipe!
