Building a Gardening Potting Bench
Building a potting bench (a hightop table that’s perfect for storing your gardening materials and to use to plant) is a DIY project that’s perfect for your next weekend.
This shelf has different uses. Our’s, as you’ll see in the photos below, is used to hold our gardening tools and as a tabletop to plant in small pots.
Different Uses for a Potting Bench
We love to grow vegetables and herbs. Some years we do better than others. Nothing like homegrown tomatoes for a Caprese Salad. Check out the Herb Guide to Cooking if you are interested learning ways to add fresh herbs from your garden into your cooking.
Others have used this same gardening shelf as a bar. Turn it around, add a few stools and you can mix and serve your next cocktail.

Our backyard is a work in progress. When we bought the house a few years ago we were blessed with very well maintained yard. Bushes and tropical plants had been planted and grown to a very attractive scape. Building the potting bench has given us the encouragement to add to the garden an herb and vegetable garden. Happy Gardening!

Great DIY for summer months. 🙂
