How and Why to Make Date Night Happen
Be honest, how often do you and your spouse have a date night? Or even a date morning or afternoon? It is so hard to coordinate a place to go and what’s even more important, reputable child care for when we are out and about. We try to have a monthly date. But like I said, I’m going to be honest, too, it doesn’t always happen, but it should.
Look at us on a date night in 2013! It was such a fun night out. Why don’t we do these things more often? We should.
Why Have a Date Night
- You Need to Talk to an Adult: If you’re a WAHM or SAHM you spend your day talking to your computer, dog and youngest children. For obvious reasons, those conversations lack substance. During a date night with your spouse, you can talk about “grown up” stuff. From the weather, to sports to future vacations. Woo Hoo!
- Because You Need Someone to Serve You Food: If your date night involves food – which it likely will – you can bask in the glory of not having to prepare and serve the food. Even better, you don’t have to clean the dishes or bother someone else to do it. Your biggest stress will be figuring out what to order off the menu.
- You Can Do Grown Up Things: The movie doesn’t have to be cartoon or rated G or PG. You can go wild watching an R rated movie. You can go out to eat at that restaurant that you know the kids would be such a pain at. You can go to a museum or other cultural things with enjoyment and without the nagging of “I’m bored…”
The list of why to have a date night can go on. I’m certain each of you could add in another several reasons why you and your spouse need one STAT!
How to Make Date Night Happen
Don’t let date night happen only in your dreams. Work on the steps to ensure you and your spouse get to enjoy a date night this month and next month, too.
- Secure Quality Child Care: If grandma isn’t available, find a reliable service like Kids Park that has hourly child care days, evenings and weekends. It’s even open till midnight on Friday and Saturdays. It’s one of those “win-win” places – it’s fun for the kids and convenient for parents. Click here to see if there is a KidsPark location near you!
- Go out a buy yourself something special to wear. If you do that, you’ll be even more enthused and determined to schedule that special outing for the two of you.
- Get Creative: Date night doesn’t have to be at night. Mornings and afternoons are great for spending time together. The kids will have fun, so you should, too! At Kids Park, every day there are featured activities that include cooking, arts and crafts, sensory exploration, games or hands-on science.
No excuses. There are places to go and reputable places to look after the kids. Time to start planning.
