Based on my experience cruising with our family, I want to share with you what to buy cruise travelers.
Will you be cruising in the coming year? Or is a friend or family member? When you are thinking of what to buy those cruisers, take a peak at the list I’ve put together based on my cruising experience. All of these items are useful for other types of travel as well.
This list is a bit random – but it’s honest stuff that I, one who has cruised many times, truly enjoys having with me.

What to Buy Cruisers
#1 Shipboard Credit
It’s one thing to have pre-paid much of your vacation but those extras, from drinks at dinner to a souvenir or two at the gift shop and biggest of all excursions will add onto your final bill. Give the cruiser a gift certificate of shipboard credit. Most of the major cruise lines offer them through their website. Two of our favorite excursions we’ve done were Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios and the Dolphin Encounter at the Sea Aquarium in Curaçao. Buy a Carnival Gift Card, a Norwegian Cruise Line Gift Card or search for another cruise lines.
#2 Pleasure Reading
It isn’t often that we get time to chill and relax. On cruise ships, there are designated adult-only quite areas, like the Serenity on Carnival and Disney’s Satellite Sun Deck, adult cruisers will find quieter spots. It’s a great spot to alas read for pleasure – a book that’s easy to ready. Take a peak at what’s hot on Amazon’s Best Books of the Month and get them them a book or two.
#3 More Outlets
Here’s a gift that will be handy for the the traveler who brings phones, tablets and any type of electronic. Depending on the age of your ship, outlets may not be as prevalent in your cabin as you would expect. I was thrilled to see a USB port in my Norwegian Escape cabin, but that’s not the norm. From phones, to tablets, to cameras and other electronics, you’ll want the optimal outlet to work as best and as much as it can. Using a outlet surge protector, that includes USB ports for charging is very useful for cruisers. Buy Belkin SurgePlus 3-Outlet Mini Travel Swivel Charger
#4 A Travel PhotoBook
Give them the opportunity to do something with all those photos they take on their trip! Give them a gift card to make a travel photo book. They just have to upload all their favorite photographs, make some customization decisions and in no time they will be ready to share their trip with friends! Online retailers like Shutterfly and Snapfish sell gift certificates to their products.
