My Daughter Screams When I Brush Her Hair

This post is part of the HEALTHY ESSENTIALS® 2014 program by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. and The Motherhood, who sent me a box of products and compensated me for my time. Opinions, experiences and photos shared here are all my own, and I hope you enjoy them.

Brushing a child’s hair can be highly frustrating. Dealing with the knots and attempting to detangle isn’t in any way an easy task. The whining and crying that often comes is even worse. Who can relate?Don't Brush My Hair

Problem: My daughter screams when I brush her hair

I have two daughters. Both have different types of hair. My oldest is brunette, like me. Her hair isn’t thick like her sister, but I wouldn’t call it thin. The moment I grab the hairbrush to begin brushing it she screams. Honestly, I haven’t touched her hair and she screams. I remember that same feeling when I was little. I was convinced that my scalp was more sensitive than other’s.  Sometimes we have the Wet Brush handy and that eases much of the complaints. But on those days (more often than not) I rely on a detangle spray.  By the way, the youngest, isn’t as whiny about the knots until she hears her older sister complain, then she joins in.

Solution: I often use detangling spray

Each morning I ask them to brush through their hair and then I style. They want their hair up  – side ponytail is the most popular hairstyle. I insist on a bit of gel or lice prevention spray, but the trouble starts with the first comb-thru, unless I’m prepared.

Brushing HairToday I was prepared. I grabbed the brush and grabbed the JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Detangling Spray, I sprayed the top, the bottom and even underneath. I didn’t want a single knot to be left “untreated.” I began the brushing and thankfully the squeals never came. I got the hair up in the pony and an adorable headband to the side. No screaming. No tears. Happy kid. Happy Mom.

This holiday season as you attempt to get the hair looking just right for all the photos, guests and events, give yourself a break and invest in some JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® Detangling Spray. It is so worth it. Brushing Hair
