Smart Product: CPSC Recall Roundup, YouTube Video Sharing Recent Recalls

There are many ways to stay on top of recent product recalls issued by the Consumer Protection Safety Commission (CPSC.)  As a Smart Mama, it is your responsibility to be aware of products that are potentially dangerous in the home of your children.  Easier said than done, when you’re a soccer mom with about a gazillion other important parenting matters consuming your days.

Over the coming weeks I will highlight the various ways you can easily and quickly (two words you don’t often hear went discussing parenting responsibilities,) utilize different resources, most often within the realms of the CPSC to keep your home and family safe.

Today I want to highlight the CPSC On Safety You Tube videos at  These videos are produced typically on a monthly basis.  The Recall Roundups provide the consumer with a visual understanding of the recalls within the given month.

The most recent Recall Roundup, from May 2011:

I am really impressed with the videos.  I find that they give the consumer a better understanding of the recall in a very quick and easy format.  Visit to subscribe to the CPSC YouTube page, which will then notify you when new ones are added.  I encourage you share this with other Smart Mamas!  You can easily share this information by using the different sharing buttons below!

Thank you so much for highlighting these videos. Unfortunately many parents only find out about recalls by word of mouth and it can take a long time for the news to spread. I didn’t know these videos existed so I will certainly add some publicity about them.

The videos are fantastic! I’ll be sharing about the SaferProducts page soon. That page provide parents the opportunity to search the CPSC database for possible safety issues in their home. It’s great!
