Last Minute Holiday Gifts That Don’t Need a Box
Last minute gifts often aren’t very personal. The generic doll, blocks or pajamas will be enjoyed by the recipient, but not for long.
Below are great last minute gift ideas for kids or families. They make great last minute gifts from Santa, Grandma, Aunt, and even mom & dad! Forget finding a spot in the playroom for these gifts. These are sure to make the kids smile and not end up under the couch with a piece missing. Plus, they don’t need batteries or a box!
Membership/Pass to an Indoor Playground
Here in a South Florida there are a number of fantastic indoor playgrounds for kids. My favorite is Cool De Sac, located in Sunset Place and in Dolphin Mall. This indoor play area is perfect for the kids and the parents. Crawlers to about 10 years old kids can have a blast here – for hours. Even better, mom and dad can enjoy a glass of wine or gourmet meal in the center cafe. Plus there’s FREE WiFi! Cool-de-Sac offers Hall Passes for unlimited entrance to either facility for just $125/child or $260 for the whole family. This is a membership that’s good for you and the kids!
Membership to the Zoo or Museum
An annual membership to Zoo Miami was one of the best membership pass I ever bought. You’ve read my love of feeding the giraffes and the great new Playworld Playground at Zoo Miami! The Family Membership sells online for $109 – a great price for yearlong family fun!
If you or the family aren’t based in Miami, check out your local zoo or children’s museum. Often annual memberships come with great perks to other events!
Annual Pass to Disney
Need I say more!? We received this gift a few years ago and it was one of the best gifts ever. For the entire year, we were able to go how often we wanted with just a few blackout dates. Additional discounts and privledges also came with the Florida Resident Seasonal Pass. If you aren’t a Floridian, look into memberships to other local theme parks. They make great weekend getaways or an easy day trip jammed pack with fun!
Tickets to Broadway!
Now, if Broadway isn’t in your hood, take a look at what the local theaters are playing. My mother recently took the 6 year old to see the Nutcracker at a South Dade Arts Center, a relatively new theater where a local youth ballet compnay preformed. They remarked that it was fantastic.
Online (Educational of course) Fun!
There are loads of membership-required sites out there. Prices typically aren’t too bad and if it’s a worthwhile site, with decent educational value, then it might make a great gift! ABCMouse.com, Starfall.com and others have membership-only areas that might be the right fit for your child.
An Unexpected Class!
Here’s a moment to get her the clown, acting or guitar lesson she nagged you about! Start looking online for for special promotions from deal sites likes Groupon & LivingSocial. I found a great opportunity for my oldest to take an art class from Zig Zag Zebra through a site like that.
