Name of Product: Rolling Toy Xylophones

Hazard: The pegs on the xylophone can break, posing a choking hazard to children.
Description: The recalled product is a rolling xylophone made of metal, wood and plastic. It has four wheels and a string to pull the toy. The xylophone has eight metal bars, each of which is attached with two pegs. The name ‘Janod’ is printed on each side between the wheels, and on the back wheels.

Recall Wednesday – Taggies, circular saw, flashing pacifier, roman shades and roll up blinds, stool and cribs.

Below are the CPSC recalls I received this past week. This is actually the 1st time that I have found one of the recall items in my home! We were at a parade a few weeks ago and we purchased, much to my hesitation, a blinking pacifier for my little munchkin. I remember laughing to my Smarty Pants Dada that night that this “toy” has all signs of needing to be recalled! Luckily my daughter only played with it for the hour of the parade and then I quickly confiscated it. It was very much an “I told you so” moment yesterday when I received the email from the CPSC that the pacifier had been recalled. Hazard: The blower’s impeller, which is a rotating component on the blower, can break, resulting in pieces of plastic flying out of the blower. This poses a risk of serious injury to the user or a bystander.

Hazard: The jackets have drawstrings through the hood and at the waist. Children can get entangled in the drawstrings that can catch on playground equipment, fences or tree branches. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstring in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts. Hazard: The recalled necklaces contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Description: This recall involves a set of two necklaces that have a silver-colored metal bead type chain and a lobster-claw clasp. One of the necklaces has a single, metal pendant with the word “Best” attached to a black, yin metal pendant. The other necklace has the word “Friends” attached to a white, yang metal pendant.

Description: The recall involves the Cybex 445T, 455T, 530T, 450T, 500T, 515T, and 520T treadmill models. The treadmills are black and gray with rectangular uprights. The 530T style treadmill is 81 inches long by 32 inches wide. The 445T style treadmill is 72 inches long by 32 inches wide. The treadmills have a display panel on a console as wide as the treadmill. “Cybex” and the model number are written on the console.

Description: This recall involves batteries with serial numbers listed below sold with the TF-DVD 1020 portable DVD/CD/MP3 players. The battery’s serial number can be found on a white sticker affixed to it. The product looks like a small laptop computer and has a 10″ swivel TV screen. “COBY” is written on the front cover and under the screen. “TF-DVD 1020″ can be found on the bottom of the unit.

The fabric seat used with the papasan chairs were sold in purple, pacific, lime yellow and gray. A hangtag on the chair reads “Smartspace Papasan Chair – 1 piece.”

When the drop side detaches or partially detaches, it creates a hazardous gap, which can lead to infant entrapment and suffocation.

Description: This recall of Simplicity drop side cribs involves models that used a different style of hardware from those cribs recalled in September 2007. The recalled model numbers include: 8620, 8745, 8748, 8755, 8756, 8778, 8810, and 8994. Description: The recall involves bicycles with Deda Forza black carbon fiber handlebar stems in gloss finish. “Deda Forza” is printed on the handlebar stem. Deda Forza black carbon fiber handlebar stems in matte finish are not included in this recall.
Sold at: Bicycle retailers nationwide from January 2008 through June 2008 on bicycles selling for between $4,300 and $8,700. The handlebar stems were also sold separately for about $400.

Hazard: The splice can fail to hold the wires adequately together, posing a shock and fire hazard to consumers.
Description: The recalled butt splices are used to connect electrical wires to one another. They are typically used for wiring small electrical appliances, like audio equipment, or in automotive applications. The splices are yellow insulated vinyl and measure about one inch long and ¼ inch wide. They were intended for use with 12-10 AWG wire. 12-10 is stamped on the side of the splices.
