How I Support Champions for Kids

Champions for Kids

I was recently invited to support a new campaign that was being brought to our local Walmart, Champions for Kids. I needed to identify a non-profit who could benefit from receiving donations throughout the year to support the people they serve. I knew right away that I had to contact my very good friend Lesley.

This mom of 4, dedicates her life to support moms and families in both her career and personal life. She is one of those friends who is always willing to lend a hand when she can.  Lesley works at CABA Pro Bono, the Cuban-American Bar Association Pro Bono Project, leading all its efforts as its Executive Director. This non-profit organization works directly with individuals, quite often children or adolescents, who are in need of legal aid but cannot afford the proper services. Attorneys donate their time and expertise to support these members of our community.

When I approached Lesley about her interest in becoming a Champions for Kids program she was ecstatic. She instantly began listing all the ways she and her colleagues have helped those in need.  They need food, clothing, jobs – just about everything imaginable. I knew I had made the right decision. I couldn’t wait to begin my role supporting Champions for Kids and its role in supporting the CABA Project.
Champions for Kids
Throughout the year, at participating Walmarts, you will see large cardboard boxes set up at the front of the store for Champions for Kids. Each mini-campaign will give store visitors the chance to add to the donation box. The most recent campaign, #SnacksForStudents, invited customers to add snack items to the bin.

My youngest and I headed to Walmart to begin adding to the bin. We picked up all sorts of treats, including my daughter’s favorite – peanut butter crackers! The CABA Project receives all the items donated as part of #SnacksForStudents and will continue receiving the bin full of items after each mini-campaign in 2015.

I am so happy to support Lesley and the organization she directs!

Be sure to check out the list of participating Walmart and find out which organization will be receiving the donations in your area, then head to Walmart and begin adding to the bins! This a great, SMART activitiy to do with the family!

Disclosure: I am a paid influencer of this project. All opinions and photos are my own.
