Make a Pizza Toppings Fixin’s Bar
We all have our own favorite pizza toppings. I now know that they can be quite entertaining on a “boring day!”
Rainy day, snowy day, honestly, any day – it’s always fun making meal preparation time exciting and interactive for the kids. Last weekend was a long rainy weekend in Miami. I don’t think the sun came out for a second. I knew I had to bring some fun and excitement into the “I’m so bored” home. How about a Party, Pizza Party!? I thought that would do the trick! All I needed was some crust and pizza toppings!
Our Pizza Toppings Fixin’s Bar
A quick trip to Wal-Mart got me some of the must-have pizza toppings for the bar. Pepperoni, bacon, peppers, onions, sauce, and cheese of course, would satisfy the tummies of the kids and my husband! I tossed toppings into small bowls and set them on the kitchen table. With the oven pre-heating, I placed 3 Flat Out Thin Curst Flatbreads on a cookie sheet and called for the family. They ran.
They had a blast creating their own personal pizzas. The pizza toppings in the fixin’s bar was perfect. Our pizza toppings included:
- shredded mozzarella
- mini pepperonis
- big pepperonis
- bacon
- diced onion
- sliced red pepper
- pizza sauce
I had to refill a couple bowls – cheese was quite popular. When their flatbread pizza’s were all set, we carefully put them in the oven for a few minutes. As soon as the cheese looked melted enough, we took the pizza’s out and began enjoying our individual homemade flatbread pizza creations!
A fixin’s bar full of favorite pizza toppings is a great way to allow kids to make their own unique creations. The flavors available with the Flat Out Thin Crust Flatbreads allowed the “pizza crust” to be part of the individual pizza creations. The flavor choice is like another topping. Tom and the kindergartener made their pizza’s on the Spicy Italian. She thought it was a little too spicy, but ate it regardless. My husband thought it was great, which means it probably was spicy. I opted for the Heritage Wheat and my father Rustic White. They were all delicious perfect!
Pizza Toppings Pizzaz Recipe by Isabella
The fun of using the different pizza toppings in a fixin’s bar to create your own pizza, meant you were actually creating your own recipe. Isabella, the kindergartener, loved that! Here’s her recipe as she explained and showed me:
- 1 Spicy Italian Flat Out Thin Crust Flatbread
- 1/4 cup of pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella
- 1/4 cup of diced onions
- 1/4 cup of sliced red peppers
Spread the sauce. Sprinkle the cheese. Add the onion and peppers all over. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes so the onions get nice and soft. Enjoy!
Now it’s your turn to get your family ready for the next pizza night by picking up toppings and Flat Out Thin Crust Flat Bread! It’s a crowd pleaser for any night!
