Kia Rio Review for Dads on a Budget

Kia Rio Review

Kia Rio ReviewFor 7 days I drove around in a 2013 Kia Rio SX (MSRP $21,340) so did Tom. I knew he would like it. I knew it would be a good car for him, as a Dad who is always looking for a good deal while enjoying all the perks of a more luxurious car. This Kia Rio review thinks of how a Dad on a budget can love and afford the awesome options of this compact car.

Kia Rio Review for Dads

The 2013 Kia Rio SX that we drove made sense for Dad. He drives a lot for work. He rarely manages carpool. He loves to play golf, yes golf of course has something to do with it. Here are the 3 reasons why a 2013 Kia Rio SX makes a great Dad car on a budget:

  1. The Details – all those things you find standard in luxury cars – navigation, sun roof, back-up camera, satellite radio, leather seats… – are in a 2013 Kia Rio SX, BUT no where close to the price of the luxury brand. So that state of the art navigation system that he’ll now have will make finding the dry cleaners or a great Italian restaurant for your anniversary dinner possible and easy.  He’ll also get a great warning if little Mikey’s tricycle is parked behind the car as he uses the back-up camera. Yes, the auto luxuries aren’t often available to a family and dad on a budget.
  2. Saving Money! With a Kia Rio SX you save money – from the beginning to the end. The car retails for around $20K, which makes a car payment/lease affordable. The more standard Kia Rio (with less add-ons) goes for ~$15,000. Sticking to a budget gets even easier with the gas. The Kia Rio SX averages 28 MPG/city and 36 MPG/highway. We drove the car for an entire week and didn’t even use half a gallon!
  3. Room for the Golf Clubs & More – Dads drive around with golf clubs in the trunk. I’m not sure if they thinks they can squeeze in a few holes after work. We tested the trunk of the compact Kia Rio and the clubs fit, plus there is room for a whole lot more.

Kia Rio ReviewThe Kia Rio SX or other Rio model is a great car for a Dad who deserves the luxuries he works so hard for, while staying on the family’s budget.

This Kia Rio review was done based on a 2013 Kia Rio SX that was provided to me to test drive. No contract or compensation to post was made. All opinions are my own.

  1. Great Review! I love that the little KIA Rio SX can hold a set of clubs. That info will help me avoid some 1st world problems 🙂
When my wife’s Civic lease ends, this is definitely on the “look” list.

  2. Great review! I’m surprised with how much car you get for the money with a Kia, it doesn’t look like you are sacrificing anything!
