Sautéed Onions or Juicy Pear? She Picked…

My 5 year old will eat sautéed onions but won’t go near a juicy pear. Yes, my daughter is an interesting eater. Do you have one like that at home? Onions have been cultivated for more than 5000 years and long ago in Egypt they were even considered an object of worship. Oh my! (Thanks http://www.onions-usa.org for those random facts!) Either way, onions are loved, but not quite worshipped in this home.Onion

I have found grilled onions, her vegetable of choice, to be an easy inclusion into many meals. I’ve added them to steaks, hot-dogs, chicken and even on top of spaghetti. I sauté them with other veggies, like squash, zucchini or eggplant and serve them as a side. I also love throwing onions into a pot roast, like my Sweet Potato Pot Roast Surprise or my favorite Smart Mama Pot Roast. I love using fresh or dried herbs to add an additional kick. Making grilled onions doesn’t take some fancy skill but the added seasoning can make all the difference. Watch this video on my Seasoned Sautéed Onions.

What do you think? What spices do you add to your sautéed onions? Have a favorite? Let’s swap sautéed onion recipes!
