21 Things to Do This Weekend for Free with the Family

Friday is upon us. It is time to scope out the weekend. Do you have sport games? Birthday parties? Family events? After that is all organized, see what time you have to do things with the family. You don’t want to spend an abundance of money. Ideally, you don’t want to spend any money at all. It’s often difficult to find things to do this weekend for free, but with a little thought a creativity, my ideas will help out.

Free Things to Do This Weekend

  1. Bike Ride
  2. Picnic at the Park
  3. Backyard campout
  4. Pick a new cuisine and cook an entire meal and even learn about the country.
  5. Grab your fishing pole and go fishing.
  6. Create and complete a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood.
  7. Check out the local library.
  8. Volunteer time at a local soup kitchen.
  9. Family Game Night/Weekend. A game of Monopoly can last hours. Have a tournament.
  10. Check out your local museums to see if any offer free entrance.
  11. Grab the basketball and go shoot hoops with the family. HORSE is always fun with a group.
  12. Geocaching. Visit Geocaching.com and enter your address to see the closest spots near your home. It’s like a big scavenger hunt.
  13. Build a family fort. When was the last time you took out al the pillows and blankets and built a fort.
  14. Have a Yard Sale. Instead of spending money, make money.
  15. Make homemade birthday cards for the next few months for family birthday. Be sure to get or make envelopes, too. Everyones loves getting mail.
  16. If the weather is warm, make a mini water park at home. A slip and slide out of a tarp. Buckets of water to pour on heads.
  17. Attend a religious service. Bringing the family together with faith is always a rewarding time.
  18. Participate in a workshop. Home Depot has free workshops for kids ages 5 to 12 on the first Saturday of every month between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Kids make a craft they can keep.
  19. Large appliance boxes to make a cardboard box house. The kids will decorate it with paint or markers.
  20. Fly a kite! This is a kid-pleaser.
  21. Have a dance party. Ask Alexa to play dance songs and get ready to shake your booty!
